Ethyl 2-(oxiran-2-yl)acetate is an enantiomer of ethyl 2-hydroxyacrylate that can be used as a toolbox molecule for the preparation of epoxides. It has been shown to catalyze the formation of epoxides from the corresponding alcohols and oxiranes. This compound has also been studied as a potential cholinergic agent with carbon source and in pharmaceutical preparations.
