2-[(2-Chlorophenyl)methylene]hydrazinecarboximidamide hydrochloride is a potent and selective inhibitor of the ion channel TRPV1. It has been shown to block the activation of TRPV1 by capsaicin and allyl isothiocyanate, which are compounds that cause pain. 2-[(2-Chlorophenyl)methylene]hydrazinecarboximidamide hydrochloride has also been shown to inhibit the interaction of TRPV1 with its ligands, including peptides and antibodies, as well as their downstream effects on cell signaling pathways. This compound has been used in pharmacological studies as a tool for studying protein interactions.
