It inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase IV, which is responsible for the degradation of the incretin hormone glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP1). 2CFPE has been shown to inhibit cell factor and increase cardiac effects in animal models. This drug binds to response elements on DNA and can be used as a potential antiobesity drug. 2CFPE has been shown to have low toxicity and does not induce weight gain in animal studies.
