It has been shown to inhibit the binding of the endogenous agonist norepinephrine in rat brain synaptosomes. This compound also blocks the activation of a variety of other receptors, including those for serotonin, dopamine, histamine and acetylcholine. 6-(4-(Diethylamino)-3-nitrophenyl)-5-methyl-4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-one has been used as a research tool to study ligand binding to protein receptors in cell biology and pharmacology.
