It is a functionalized, hydroxylated compound that can be used as an antiproliferative reagent. 7-Chloroquinoline-4-carbaldehyde has been shown to inhibit the growth of leukemia cells, prostate cancer cells and breast cancer cells. The hydroxyl group on this molecule reacts with electrophiles to form covalent adducts and undergoes substitution reactions with amino groups.
