It is also a diagnostic agent for bone growth and can be used to measure the proliferative activity in animals. FDP is insoluble in water and has a particle size of approximately 3 nm. Impurities such as hydrocarbons are often found in FDP samples because it is created by reacting dichlorodifluoromethane with hydrogen fluoride at high temperatures. This chemical species has been shown to have a low toxicity profile in animal studies.
