CAS :Amidephrine is a type of fatty acid that is used as a drug in the treatment of infectious diseases and certain types of cancer. It binds to cytosolic Ca2+, which increases the level of this ion in the cytosol and leads to an increase in intracellular cAMP levels. Amidephrine also acts as an agonist for 2-adrenergic receptors, leading to vasoconstriction and increased heart rate. The effects of Amidephrine are mediated by its binding to adrenergic receptors on fat cells, liver cells, and gland cells. The potency of Amidephrine is low due to its ability to cross the blood-brain barrier but not the blood-placenta barrier.
