It binds to the ligand binding site at the extracellular end of the channel and blocks access by other ions. 3-Amino-N-(4-bromophenyl)benzene-1-sulfonamide can be used as a research tool in cell biology, pharmacology and other life science fields. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of a number of ion channels including voltage gated sodium channels, calcium activated potassium channels and voltage dependent chloride channels.
