The (R)-(+)-1-Phenylethylamine has been shown to bind to copper ions and form a complex, which then reacts with ammonia or amines in the presence of hydrogen gas to produce the desired product. This reaction proceeds in two steps: first, the amine or ammonia binds to copper ion; secondly, the alkanoic acid or fatty acid reacts with this complex to form the desired product.
