This product has been shown to cause oxidative injury, toxicity, and cell death in vitro. The effects of this product on the mouse testis have also been studied. Rac-mono(ethylhexyl) phthalate has been shown to decrease energy metabolism and polymerase chain activity, which may lead to tumorigenesis. This product also has a toxic effect on mouse cells at low doses. Rac-mono(ethylhexyl) phthalate binds to the response element, which is responsible for regulating gene expression.
