(2S)-2-(Furan-2-ylformamido)propanoic acid is an enantioenriched amino acid that is synthesized from the asymmetric transformation of (2R,3S)-2-(furan-2-ylformamido)propanoic acid. The stereoselectivity of this transformation was achieved by using a chiral auxiliary to control the configuration of the first carbon atom in the molecule. This transformation yielded a mixture containing two diastereomers, one enantiomer with a relative optical purity of 72% ee and another with a relative optical purity of 64% ee.
