It has been shown to inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria by inhibiting protein synthesis. Epiandrosterone may also be used as a chemical intermediate in wastewater treatment, where it removes organic contaminants from wastewater and converts them into energy. This compound has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) production. Epiandrosterone has also been shown to have antioxidant properties because it inhibits lipid peroxidation and free radical formation. The matrix effect is an analytical method that can be used for the detection of epiandrosterone.
