Hexobendine dihydrochloride
CAS :Hexobendine is a drug used to treat bowel disease and infectious diseases. It has been shown to stimulate the uptake of adenosine, which is an important mediator in energy metabolism. Hexobendine also increases the activity of enzymes involved in protein synthesis and other physiological effects. It inhibits the rate constant for a reaction by binding to an enzyme that does not bind to hexobendine, thereby changing the conformation of the enzyme active site and altering the reaction mechanism. Hexobendine's mode of action is similar to that of x-ray contrast media, which are used during diagnostic procedures such as x-rays or MRIs. The only difference is that x-ray contrast media are not absorbed by tissues, but instead create shadows on x-rays or MRIs.
