CAS :Ethyl 2-oxopentanoate is an organic compound that belongs to the group of alcohols. It is a chiral molecule, which means that it has the property of non-superimposability on its mirror image. Ethyl 2-oxopentanoate can be synthesized from aspartic acid and formaldehyde under thermophilic conditions. This alcohol is used in the production of polyacrylamide gels and in the synthesis of amides. In addition, ethyl 2-oxopentanoate is used as a reagent for chemical reactions involving carbonyl compounds or stereogenic centers. This organic compound also binds to actinomycetes and sds-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
