2-Amino-4-methylfuran-3-carbonitrile is a reagent that is used in the synthesis of various pharmaceuticals. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity. The x-ray structure of 2-amino-4-methylfuran-3-carbonitrile has been determined and it was found to be a dimer in the crystalline state.
