2-Acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-D-glucopyranosyl chloride - Stabilised with 2% CaCO3 is a complex carbohydrate. It is synthesized by the reaction of 2 Acetamido-3,4,6 triacetyl-2 deoxy D glucose and Chloromethyl chloroformate in presence of sodium carbonate at pH 8.5 for 3 hours. The product is purified using column chromatography and recrystallized with water to give white crystalline powder. It has been used as an inhibitor of glycosidases and methyltransferases as well as a glycoprotein crosslinking agent.
