2-Vinylpyrimidine is an organic compound with the molecular formula C4H6N2O. It is a white solid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents. 2-Vinylpyrimidine has been used as a crosslinking agent in the synthesis of polymers, such as glycol ethers, and it also serves as a model for the study of hydroxyl group transfer reactions. 2-Vinylpyrimidine has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of dehydroascorbate reductase (DHAR) and hydroxycinnamic acid dehydratase (HCD), two enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of lignin, which can cause damage to plants. This compound also acts as a model for alkynylation reactions, which are used to synthesize esters.Provided as a 70% solution in DCM.
