CAS :2-Ethylhexyl 4-hydroxybenzoate is an experimental model for isovaleric acid, which is a naturally occurring chemical in humans. It has been shown to act as an estrogen receptor modulator and may have potential for other hormone-related conditions such as breast cancer. 2-Ethylhexyl 4-hydroxybenzoate has been shown to inhibit the growth of Klebsiella aerogenes, a type of bacteria that can cause pneumonia, in vitro assays. It also inhibits the activity of alcohol dehydrogenase, which is a key enzyme in the metabolism of alcohol group compounds. 2-Ethylhexyl 4-hydroxybenzoate also binds to receptor α with high affinity and prevents its activation by competing with other chemicals.
