CAS :Papaverine is a plant alkaloid that has been shown to be effective as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent. It is used in the treatment of chronic pain and inflammation, but its mechanism of action is not well understood. Papaverine has been shown to inhibit the production of growth factors, such as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), by cells. Papaverine also has effects on the immune system and may act through toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) to inhibit tumor cell proliferation. The effective dose for papaverine ranges from 1 mg to 10 mg per day, depending on the condition being treated. This drug can be administered orally or intravenously as a pharmaceutical preparation.
