Methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl-α-D-glucopyranoside is a glycosylation agent that is used for the synthesis of complex carbohydrates and monosaccharides. This product is also used in Click chemistry as a reactive group. Methyl 2,3,4-tri-O-benzoyl-α-D-glucopyranoside can be fluorinated or saccharified to produce high purity sugars for use in pharmaceuticals. It is synthesized through the reaction of benzaldehyde with glycerol in the presence of sodium hydroxide and potassium carbonate.
