2-Chloroethyl cyclohexyl sulphide (2CES) is a coordination compound with a volatile, chlorinated benzene core. It is synthesized by the reaction of 2-chloroethylcyclohexane with elemental sulfur and then purified by recrystallization from acetonitrile. The molecule has two isomers that are distinguished by their different luminescent properties:
