2-Amino-6-chloro-7-methyl-9-(b-D-ribofuranosyl)purine is a nucleoside which is the structural analog of adenosine and is used in the synthesis of DNA, RNA, and other nucleosides. It has antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2, Epstein Barr virus, poliovirus types 1, 2, and 3, and vesicular stomatitis virus. This compound also has anticancer activity.
2-Amino-6-chloro-7-methyl-9-(b-D ribofuranosyl) purine can be used to synthesize deoxyribonucleosides or monophosphate nucleotides. It can also be used as an intermediate for phosphoramidites in the synthesis of DNA or RNA.
