5β-Cholanic acid-3,7,12-trione N-(2-sulphoethyl)-amide, sodium salt (5CA) is a cancer therapeutic that is used for the treatment of nasal and oropharyngeal cancers. 5CA is an organic compound that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro against neoplastic cells. It acts by binding to the S phase of the cell cycle and inhibiting DNA synthesis. 5CA also inhibits viral replication by binding to the virus antigen. This drug has been shown to be effective as a radioimmunotherapy agent due to its ability to bind specifically with tumor cells and deliver radioactive isotopes. As a result, it can be used for targeting of cancer cells in vivo by introducing a radionuclide into the body or attaching it onto an antibody.
