CAS :3-Hydroxybenzhydrazide is an antimicrobial that belongs to the group of cyclohexanones. It has shown antimicrobial activity against bacteria, including Salmonella typhi and Bacillus cereus. The compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the hydroxyl groups on the aromatic rings, which disrupts hydrogen bonding in the molecule and prevents its interaction with the enzyme cyclohexanone dehydrogenase. This lowers the production of hydrogen peroxide, which is necessary for bacterial growth. 3-Hydroxybenzhydrazide also has antibacterial activity due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to salicylaldehyde, a precursor for bacterial dna synthesis. This active form can be found as a crystal x-ray diffraction pattern using elemental analysis or diffraction techniques.
