CAS :Ethylmethylsulfone is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of organic compounds. It has a molecular weight of 194.24 and is composed of an ethyl group, methyl group, and sulfone group. Ethylmethylsulfone can be produced by reacting magnesium with methyl ethylsulfonyl chloride in the presence of an acid or base. The chemical stability of this compound is due to the lack of nitrogen atoms in its structure, which are susceptible to oxidation reactions. Ethylmethylsulfone has been shown to have high antibacterial activity against wild-type strains as well as bacterial strains resistant to antibiotics such as penicillin, erythromycin, and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). In addition, this compound has been found to be effective against kidney bean bacteria.
