H-Ile-Gln-OH is an amide that is a major metabolite of the hormone prolactin. It is generated by deamination, which converts the amino acid histidine to H-Ile-Gln-OH. H-Ile-Gln-OH has been shown to have an antiinflammatory effect on colitis and cardiac reperfusion injury. Its mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit proinflammatory cytokines such as IL1β and TNFα.
