    <p>Ethyl 4-(1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (EPPC) is a research tool that is an activator of the ligand receptor binding. EPPC binds to the receptor and activates it by opening ion channels in cells. It has been shown to bind to the NMDA receptor in neurons, leading to a decrease in calcium ion influx and an increase in potassium ion efflux. EPPC also binds to the GABA receptor and blocks chloride channel activity, which leads to neuronal hyperactivity.
