    Tetrakis(4-formylphenyl)methane (TPM) is a carbamate that has been investigated as a monomer for lithium ion batteries. TPM has been shown to be expressed in the morphology of lithium metal with low detection and can be quantified using x-ray diffraction. The diffraction pattern was observed to have characteristic peaks at 2θ values of 32°, 38°, 44°, and 54°. TPM can be desorbed from the surface of lithium metal by heating it to 150°C for 1 minute or by exposing it to an organic solvent like imine.
