CAS :Valeric acid methyl ester is a fatty acid that is synthesized by the oxidation of valeric acid. It has a hydroxyl group at the 3 position, which is an important factor for aminotransferase activity. Valeric acid methyl ester has been shown to inhibit the production of chloride in bacteria, which may be due to its ability to act as an inorganic acid and react with chloride ions. The reactions produce hydrogen gas and glycol ether, which are toxic to bacterial cells. Valeric acid methyl ester also inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Escherichia coli. This substance also has anti-diabetic effects on diabetic neuropathy and kidney fibrosis in animal models.
