CAS :Produit contrôlé21-Deoxycortisol is a synthetic steroid that is used as a diagnostic agent in vitro to differentiate between deficiency type I (21-hydroxylase) and deficiency type II (11β-hydroxylase) of the adrenal gland. 21-Deoxycortisol has structural similarity to cortisol, but it does not bind to receptors in the body. The absence of this binding makes it useful for diagnosis. The measurement of serum cortisol levels can be used to diagnose these deficiencies as well, but this test is less specific than the 21-deoxycortisol assay. In addition, there are significant interactions with other drugs that may affect the accuracy of these measurements. This drug is also used as a model system for studying physiological processes and interactions with drugs.
