It is an optical isomer of 1-(thiophen-2-yl)propan-1-ol and can be used as a pharmaceutical preparation in formulae with other drugs. 3 amino propanol can be prepared by reacting propionamide with ammonia, aralkyl amides, or amido groups. This reaction yields a mixture of the two optical isomers in a ratio of 1:5 to 5:1. The substance is also known as 6-alkyl, optically active, pharmaceutical preparations and formulae (6AOPPF).
