Description :
(-)-Cycloheximide est un composé naturellement présent qui sert d'inhibiteur important de la synthèse des protéines dans les cellules eucaryotes. Il est dérivé de la bactérie Streptomyces griseus et est principalement utilisé dans la recherche pour étudier l'expression génique et la fonction des protéines. La substance se caractérise par sa capacité à inhiber la phase d'élongation de la traduction en interférant avec la machinerie ribosomique, ciblant spécifiquement la sous-unité ribosomique 60S.
