5-Fluoro-4’-C-methyluridine is a novel antiviral agent that is structurally related to the nucleoside analogue cytidine. It has been shown to be an activator of DNA polymerase, which may contribute to its antiviral activity. 5-Fluoro-4’-C-methyluridine has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by modifying the synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and ribonucleic acid (RNA). 5-Fluoro-4’-C-methyluridine has also been shown to have anticancer effects, as it inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis.
