CAS :Produit contrôléBisoprolol is a selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist that is used to treat high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It also has a protective effect on the myocardium. Bisoprolol blocks the action of catecholamines on beta-2 receptors in the heart and peripheral vascular system, reducing heart rate, cardiac output, and blood pressure. This drug also inhibits calcium release from the sarcoplasmic reticulum of cardiac muscle cells by binding to the ryanodine receptor. Bisoprolol is not absorbed when taken orally, so it must be administered by injection or intravenously. The drug’s activity can be monitored using chromatographic analysis to measure levels of bisoprolol in human serum or blood pressure monitoring to measure changes in blood pressure after administration of bisoprolol.
