CAS :Esomeprazole magnesium hydrate is a proton pump inhibitor that inhibits the secretion of acid by the stomach. It is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcers. Esomeprazole magnesium hydrate belongs to a group of drugs called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). NSAIDs inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, which is required for pain and inflammation. The effects of this drug are dose-dependent. Esomeprazole magnesium hydrate has been shown to be toxic in animal studies, with effects on stomach, liver, kidneys, heart, lungs, and spleen.
