N1-Butyl-4-(morpholine-4-sulfonyl)benzene-1,2-diamine is a potent activator of the NMDA receptor (NMDAR). It binds to the glutamate binding site of the NMDAR and activates it by increasing the flow of sodium ions into neurons. This drug has been used as a research tool for studying the role of this receptor in neuronal excitability and as an inhibitor for many protein interactions. N1-Butyl-4-(morpholine-4-sulfonyl)benzene-1,2-diamine is also a ligand for opioid receptors and can be used to study their function.
