    3-(2-Cyanoethyl)thymidine is a nucleoside that is an analogue of thymidine. It is a phosphoramidite and has antiviral properties. 3-(2-Cyanoethyl)thymidine, as well as other nucleosides, have been shown to be active against DNA viruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2, cytomegalovirus, and varicella zoster virus. 3-(2-Cyanoethyl)thymidine has also been shown to be active against cancer cells in vitro.
