Givinostat is a small molecule that inhibits autophagy, a process in which cells break down their own components. It has been shown to have dose-dependent effects on human primary cells and cell lines. Givinostat inhibits the transcriptional regulator protein complex, Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), and TLR4-mediated signaling pathways, which play an important role in the progression of cancer and infectious diseases. Givinostat can also be used as a therapeutic agent for colorectal adenocarcinoma in pediatric patients, with no significant side effects.
