Description :
Dysprosium est un élément chimique avec le symbole Dy et le numéro atomique 66, classé comme un lanthanide dans le tableau périodique. C'est un métal argenté qui est relativement stable dans l'air, formant une couche d'oxyde protectrice qui empêche une oxydation supplémentaire. Dysprosium est connu pour sa haute susceptibilité magnétique et est l'un des éléments les plus efficaces pour améliorer les propriétés magnétiques des matériaux, ce qui le rend précieux dans la production d'aimants permanents, en particulier dans des applications haute performance comme les véhicules électriques et les éoliennes. Il a un point de fusion d'environ 1 412 degrés Celsius et un point d'ébullition d'environ 2 570 degrés Celsius, indiquant sa stabilité à haute température. Dysprosium est également utilisé dans les réacteurs nucléaires et comme dopant dans certains types de lasers. En termes de réactivité, il peut réagir avec l'eau et les acides, produisant du gaz hydrogène. Dysprosium est relativement rare dans la croûte terrestre, et son extraction implique généralement des processus complexes à partir de minéraux tels que la bastnäsite et la monazite.
