Samarium

Description :
Samarium est un élément métallique de couleur argentée classé comme un lanthanide dans le tableau périodique, avec le numéro atomique 62. Il est relativement stable dans l'air et ne ternit pas facilement, bien qu'il puisse réagir avec l'eau et les acides pour former de l'hydroxyde de Samarium et des sels de Samarium. Samarium présente un point de fusion élevé et est connu pour ses propriétés magnétiques, ce qui le rend utile dans la production d'aimants permanents, en particulier des aimants Samarium-cobalt, qui sont connus pour leur haute résistance à la démagnétisation. De plus, Samarium est utilisé dans diverses applications, y compris les réacteurs nucléaires, où il sert d'absorbeur de neutrons, et dans la fabrication de phosphores pour les tubes de télévision couleur et les lumières LED. L'élément est généralement obtenu à partir de minéraux tels que la monazite et la bastnasite, et il est souvent utilisé sous forme d'alliages ou de composés.
