Description :
Cérium est un métal ductile de couleur argentée qui appartient à la série des lanthanides du tableau périodique, avec le numéro atomique 58 et le numéro CAS 7440-45-1. Il est connu pour son point de fusion relativement élevé et est l'un des éléments de terres rares les plus abondants. Cérium présente une variété d'états d'oxydation, les plus courants étant +3 et +4, qui contribuent à son comportement chimique diversifié. Il s'oxyde facilement dans l'air, formant une couche d'oxyde protectrice, et peut réagir avec l'eau à des températures élevées.
