3-(Methylsulfanyl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-1-carboxylic acid is a protein that binds to the extracellular domain of the human erythropoietin receptor. This receptor is involved in the regulation of red blood cell production and has been shown to be important for its binding to extracellular matrix proteins. 3-(Methylsulfanyl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine-1-carboxylic acid has also been shown to inhibit ligand binding to the erythropoietin receptor, by blocking the erythropoietin binding site. This can be used as a research tool or pharmacological agent.
