Description :
Famotidine est un antagoniste des récepteurs H2 de l'histamine principalement utilisé pour traiter des conditions liées à un excès d'acide gastrique, telles que la maladie de reflux gastro-œsophagien (RGO) et les ulcères peptiques. Il agit en inhibant l'action de l'histamine sur les récepteurs H2 des cellules pariétales gastriques, réduisant ainsi la sécrétion d'acide gastrique. Famotidine is effective in the treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers, particularly when they are caused by the prolonged use of nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). To improve retention in the stomach, famotidine has experimentally been formulated as buoyant tablets that remained floating for up to 10 hours in vitro (Jaimini, 2007).
