CAS :4-Nitrophenyl chloroformate is a reagent used for the treatment of wastewater. It is used to remove organic contaminants from water by forming ester hydrochlorides with these contaminants. The reaction mechanism of 4-nitrophenyl chloroformate involves a nucleophilic substitution reaction, which proceeds via an electrophilic addition reaction. This compound has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties in rats and mice, as well as being activated by integrin receptor kinase and displaying kinetic behaviour. 4-Nitrophenyl chloroformate also has optical sensor activity and can be used as a cyclic peptide.
