CAS :Demephion is an oxadiazole, a class of pesticides that are effective against aphids, leafhoppers, and thrips. Demephion is also used as a fungicide. Demephion has been shown to be effective in pest control when applied to crops such as cereal grains, potatoes, sugar beet, rice, cotton and tobacco. Demephion has been shown to have little effect on insects other than those mentioned above. The level of pest control is dependent on the concentration of the pesticide and the length of time it remains active in the environment. Demephion has been found to be effective in laboratory tests using animals and humans; however it should not be used on skin with cuts or wounds. Demephion can cause eye irritation if sprayed directly into eyes with contact lenses intact.
