    <p>4-Iodo-1H-indole is a synthetic compound that can be used to synthesize arenes with a hydroxyl group. This compound is useful as a reagent in the synthesis of penitrem B, which has been shown to have powerful antibacterial activity against myxobacterium. 4-Iodo-1H-indole has been shown to be stereoselective and hydroxyl group selective, which allows for the synthesis of compounds with different sections. The reaction yield for this compound is high and it has been catalysed by an enzyme. The hydroxy group on 4-iodo-1H-indole can also be replaced with other functional groups. It can also be reduced to form an arene with a halogeno substituent or catalyzed by hydrogen peroxide to form an arene with a hydroxy group.</p>
