CAS :4-(Trifluoromethoxy)phenol is an anti-tuberculosis drug. It is a diode that has been shown to have pharmacokinetic properties in rats and mice. 4-(Trifluoromethoxy)phenol has been shown to act as a prodrug, which is activated by conversion to the active form. This active form inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit and preventing bacterial transcription and replication. The molecular structure of 4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenol is similar to phenoxypropanoid compounds, such as biphenyl, which may be responsible for its anti-tuberculosis effects. 4-(Trifluoromethoxy)phenol also binds DNA at specific sites with high affinity and specificity, inhibiting gene expression and RNA synthesis.
