1,3-Thiazole-5-sulfonamide is a vasotropic agent that has been shown to decrease the ventricular hypertrophy seen in cardiovascular disorders in animal models. The mechanism of action of this drug is not well understood, but it may be due to its ability to act as an antagonist at the angiotensin 1 receptor. It also has been shown to have nootropic and nephrotropic effects. 1,3-Thiazole-5-sulfonamide has been shown to be effective in treating hypertension and angina pectoris.
