1,3-Dibutyl-5-(diaminomethylene)pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione is an inhibitor of the ion channel TRPV1. It is a highly potent and selective blocker of TRPV1 channels with IC50 values in the low nanomolar range. The binding site of 1,3-Dibutyl-5-(diaminomethylene)pyrimidine-2,4,6-trione on the TRPV1 receptor has been determined using affinity labeling techniques with radiolabeled ligand. This compound has been shown to inhibit the response of human neutrophils to chemotactic stimuli by blocking the release of inflammatory mediators. The inhibition may be due to inhibition of calcium influx through TRPV1 channels.
