It is also an antiviral agent that inhibits the synthesis of RNA by inhibiting the enzyme RNA polymerase II. 2'-Deoxy-5'-O-DMT-N2-isopropylguanosine has been shown to have anticancer activity and can be used as a substitute for other nucleosides in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and breast cancer. 2'-Deoxy-5'-O-DMT-N2-isopropylguanosine is synthesized from DMT and N2-(2-isopropyl)guanine.
